Hosted by Moongate Productions, the event will be moderated by NüVoices Editor and Board Member Jessie Lau, a human rights journalist from Hong Kong who is currently based in London. The panel will feature the following experts:
Qiuyang Chen
Qiuyang (she/her) is a researcher, student-turned feminist activist and member of VaChina: a UK-based Chinese female and queer diaspora-led organisation focused on gender and intersectional feminist activism since 2017.
Isabella Yasmin Kajiwara
Isabella is a Japanese-British-American writer, editor, community organiser, workshop facilitator, and book club host. They have bylines in a number of publications including shado magazine and Red Pepper magazine, and their work spans across Border and Prison Abolition, Culture and Art Activism, and East and Southeast Asian histories of community organising in past and present. As part of ESEA Sisters, their practice includes curating workshops, political education teach-ins, and other spaces for women, trans, non-binary, and genderqueer folks to heal, create, and transform with one another.
Francesa Humi
Francesca is a Filipino-British organises and writes on state and border violence. From 2022 to 2024, she coordinated the Crossborder Forum, a network of French, British, and Belgian organisations and activists working on cross-border migration, hosted at JCWI. Before this, she worked as a caseworker and campaigner for Filipino undocumented migrants at Kanlungan Filipino Consortium, a London-based community organisation. She co-produced Our Place Is Here, a campaign, documentary, and podcast series in partnership with gal-dem about migrant domestic workers’ rights. She has been published by LSE Press, openDemocracy, and gal-dem.
