Meet Our New Podcast Production Team

The NüVoices podcast team is proud to present our new members, Rebecca Liu and Wing Kuang. After completing their onboarding in December and January, Rebecca and Wing have hit the ground running since the start of 2025! Please stay tuned for new episodes featuring their names in our end credits.

Please read about our new podcast team members:

Wing Kuang is our new podcast producer. She is a freelance audio producer and journalist in Sydney, Australia. She has produced audio news and podcasts for Australia’s two public broadcasters – SBS and ABC – in the past three years. She has reported for The Guardian, The Saturday Paper, WhyNot 歪腦, and Initium Media 端傳媒. She also covers Australia’s current affairs and China. Connect with her on LinkedIn to read her recent journalistic work.

Rebecca Liu is our new podcast editor and sound designer. Having focused on sound production and post-production throughout college, she currently works at UNC Chapel Hill teaching students digital literacy for their own projects.

A message from board member and outgoing podcast editor, Megan Cattel: Since the NüVoices podcast became independent in 2021, it has been a pleasure to see that our production quality, audience engagement, and editorial standards have risen year by year. Now, the podcast has become a pipeline for securing talent and making sure entry-level journalists can stay in the industry.

My NüVoices pathway led me to a producer role at WBUR in 2023 and later, a full-time editorial role at the Nieman Foundation for Journalism at Harvard. Meanwhile, our outgoing producer from 2023, Saga Ringmar, started a full-time job at Politico last year.

NüVoices doesn’t just talk the talk, it walks the walk. Our organization remains a bright spot in an industry in turmoil. It not only gives our podcast team a monthly stipend for their work, but also provides consistent mentorship and guidance, which has proven invaluable to me over the years.

While I step back from day-to-day production of the podcast, I will stay involved through volunteer efforts, occasional hosting on a few upcoming episodes, and oversee some longer term projects and audio documentaries that require original reporting. My hope is our dive into longer features and miniseries will help reach new audiences. Stay tuned!

A message from our chair, Chenni Xu: NüVoices is an independent and volunteer-led collective, and we wouldn’t be able to fund our podcast team without your continued interest and support. Seeing our podcast team expand over the years is a direct result of the generosity of our patrons and donors.

We are now recognized as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in the US and contributions are now tax-deductible for US donors. We hope that you can continue to support our podcast team, editorial goals and community gatherings this year by contributing and spreading the word about our impact.
